An Olympic Highlight
The Marathon tower in front of the Olympic Stadium is of enormous historical significance. The iconic building was designed by architect Jan Wils and is located on the right of the entrance to the Olympic Stadium. The tower is 46 meters high and has a staircase. In 1928 the Olympic Fire was lit for the first time in this tower. With that, Amsterdam caused an international sensation and the symbolic ignition of the flame is still inextricably linked to the Olympic Games.
Because of the special nature of the tower, a maximum of 6 people can participate per tour. The first guided tour starts at 10:00 and then begin every half hour. The last tour is at 15:30.
All guided tours are now fully booked.
Without an entrance ticket, there is no point in coming to the Marathontoren!
The Marathon Tower is not accessible for the disabled. Children between the ages of 8 and 12 may only go upstairs if accompanied by a parent. In this case: a) No more than one child per parent and b) the parent keeps supervision of the child during the climb, the stay in the top of the tower and the descent. You must also comply with the regulations that the supervisor will inform you about.
