Striking bridge keeper’s house with a breathtaking 360° view of the Amsterdam waterways.

From 1967 to 2017, the house on the Kortjewantsbrug served as a bridge keeper’s house and at the same time as one of the four Amsterdam harbor dues posts. In 2019 it was transformed into one of the 28 mini suites of SWEETS hotel. The cylindrical bridge keeper’s house was designed in 1967 by Dick Slebos and stands on a wide round column on the north side of the Kortjewantsbrug. Like the exterior of the tower, the interior is round – even the bed! From this unique hotel room in Amsterdam Center, high above the water, you can see several architecture icons from different periods: the history of the city in one panoramic view.
On the Open Tower Day, 6 people (children only accompanied by a parent/guardian) can visit this special hotel tower room every 15 minutes from 12:00 pm. The last tour takes place at 2:45 PM.

Accessibility

The bridge keeper’s house is not accessible for the disabled. Climbing is at your own risk.
